hypnobirthing live webinar

expert midwife

prepare for a relaxing pregnancy,

improved sleep & a calm birth

nervous? anxious? can't sleep? dreading birth?

Fear & anxiety activates our fight or flight mode (sympathetic nervous system) which releases cortisol (stress hormone - not good for you or your baby) & makes for a tense pregnancy. This can also slow your labour down, make the whole experience more painful & potentially lead to unnecessary intervention.

what the heck is hypnobirthing?

tiredness & disturbed sleep?

Poor sleep in pregnancy is debilitating & draining. It can feel lonely, especially when you're the only one awake. It exacerbates nausea and often leaves you feeling down. If this is how you're feeling, you're not alone...

relaxation, better sleep, calm birth

Hypnobirthing enables you to enter your 'rest & digest' mode in pregnancy & your 'rest & progress' mode in labour (parasympathetic nervous system). We offer numerous practical changes you can make to stimulate your parasympathetic nervous system. We also teach you breathing and visualisation techniques to use which help enable you to relax, sleep better, look forward to your birth and remain calm throughout. Many of our clients report improved sleep & reduced nausea using the techniques we teach.

what clients say about us

I've always been somewhat sceptical about hypnobirthing but honestly, the breathing exercises and training that Freya provided was transformational! Our labour & birth experience was calm & using the techniques Freya taught me, meant I was able to manage contractions & breathe my baby out without the need for loads of pain relief or stitches! I am forever grateful to her!

Amanda

I wasn't sure hypnobirthing would be something I really benefited from, but was willing to give it (anything) a go. The class actually had a very pragmatic approach that I enjoyed & found really relaxing. I feel more prepared, and I would recommend this to anyone. The fact you can message Freya after & ask any questions that pop up is really helpful too & going the extra mile.

Frequently Asked Questions

When should I book/attend Hypnobirthing?

Any time from knowing you’re pregnant! The sooner the better but it’s also not too late if you just heard about this and are already in the third trimester.

Is hypnobirthing hypnosis or anything weird?

No, it has an unhelpful title! It's not hypnosis or anything strange. We simply give you lots of practical changes you can make plus breathing & visualisation techniques to keep your calm mode activated.

I'm having a planned caesarean, is this still helpful/relevant?

Absolutely! Our hypnobirthing live webinar can help keep you calm during pregnancy & be used in theatre during your caesarean. Our clients have found it so helpful during pregnancy & a number of clients planning a caesarean swore by the techniques when they unexpectedly went into labour & had to wait all day for their caesarean. You’re likely to find hypnobirthing helps improve sleep too.

Do you refer to contractions as 'surges' or 'waves' in hypnobirthing?

Nope! We call a contraction a contraction. Your uterus is a muscle so it has the potential to contract. We don't see this as negative terminology. Our approach is down to earth, pragmatic & facts not fluff! We don't use breathy voices or play whale music.

Should my (birth) partner attend hypnobirthing?

We recommend they do, as this gives them a much better understanding of what it is & therefore they are better equipped to support you. They may also find the techniques useful for themselves in everyday situations in life/to aid sleep.

Can I wear pyjamas for the hypnobirthing webinar?

Yes! That’s the beauty of Zoom! Be as comfortable as you like. We keep cameras OFF & sound MUTED for those attending the hypnobirthing webinar; so no one sees or hears you join in with the breathing exercises... imagine that, a room full of Darth Vaders...🫣

We actually recommend you get ready for bed before the webinar. At the end most people drift off to sleep! 😴

our approach

We offer a straight forward, straight talking, no nonsense, facts not fluff course explaining how hypnobirthing works (it's not hypnosis; it's got an unhelpful title!). We rely on science, years of midwifery experience & a sense of humour! We call a contraction, a contraction (not a 'surge' or a 'wave') & we don't use breathy voices or play whale music! We equip you with everything you need to practice, remain calm, help sleep, reduce nausea & approach birth in a new & positive way. We're realistic & have seen the techniques we teach work as well with a planned home birth as with an emergency Caesarean section.
